Prof Joseph Chuma

Prof. Joseph Chuma is the acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research Development and Innovation at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) and a Professor of Electronic Systems Engineering. He has over 24 years of experience in teaching and research, consultancy, and human resources development in telecommunication, computer, and electrical and electronics engineering, including Cisco computer networking.

Prof. Chuma is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Botswana Institution of Engineers (BIE), and he is also a Professional Engineer registered with the Botswana Engineers Registration Board (ERB). Furthermore, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA), a member of the Registration Committee of ERB, a member of the BIUST Council, and a former council member of BIE. Prof. Chuma also served as an international reviewer to several IEEE Transactions and a Technical Programme Committee member for the IEEE.

He has several patents registered in his name, and he successfully completed research projects to the value of US$4 million. He authored or co-authored three books, three book chapters, and many refereed, published scholarly/scientific journal articles.
